A brighter, whiter smile is closer than you think
From professional in-office whitening to self-whitening you finish at home. Choose what fits your lifestyle.
Why do teeth discolour?
Teeth naturally discolour over time. Coffee, black tea, wine and curry leave pigment on the surface, while smoking and ageing slowly stain the inner tooth.
Whitening works by breaking down that built-up pigment through oxidation. The active agent, hydrogen (or carbamide) peroxide, penetrates the tooth and removes the staining.
What makes whitening at SU Dental different?
Whitening results are directly tied to the gel concentration.

Frequently asked
- Will my teeth feel sensitive afterwards?
- There can be temporary sensitivity, but it usually settles within a day. We use a gel with a desensitising agent, and if discomfort remains we provide our own soothing treatment.
- How long does it last?
- It varies with diet and care, but generally six months to a year. Frequent coffee, wine or smoking calls for periodic touch-ups.
- Can crowns or veneers be whitened?
- Whitening only affects natural teeth; the colour of crowns, veneers and resin does not change. Let us know about any restorations at your consultation.
- In-office or take-home — which is more effective?
- In-office is more powerful immediately. Take-home is gradual but reaches a similar level when worn over ten-plus days. Combining the two is most effective.
- Can I eat right after whitening?
- For the first 30-60 minutes, avoid staining foods (coffee, curry, wine). Take particular care for the first 48 hours.
